TWO Newcastle-filmed flicks will premiere in the US this month.
Newcastle, the feature film that stars Lachlan Buchanan (right in picture with Kirk Jenkins) and features Andrew Johns and Barry Otto, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 25.The surf flick, which is a coming-of-age story based around 17-year-old Jesse, began shooting on Newcastle's Nobbys Beach a year ago.The flick will be on show in New York among the 120 films selected from more than 2000 entries Meanwhile, the documentary Lockout, based on the 1929 Rothbury riot, will have its North American premiere at the Reel Work Labor Film Festival in Santa Cruz, California, on April 26.Both premieres are significant for Newcastle filmmaker Greg Hall. Hall not only co-produced Lockout but also worked as the location manager on Newcastle.Newcastle is expected to be released towards the end of the year in Australia.
