€“ PRAISE for Newcastle's earlier pub closing times and lockouts was used as justification last night to refuse a Medowie hotel's bid to open 22 hours a day.The owners of the Bull 'n' Bush Hotel at Ferodale Road had sought approval to stay open from 5am to 3am, six days a week, but Port Stephens Council defeated the motion unanimously.Cr Geoff Dingle cited late-night trading restrictions introduced in Newcastle in 2008 and praised by police and health workers as evidence of why the Bull 'n' Bush extension should not go ahead.
