Culina lands at NewcastleA-LEAGUE: Jason Culina and father Branko are confident family ties will pose no problem when the pair reunite as player and coach at Newcastle Jets next season. The Jets announced Socceroo Culina's signing for the next three seasons yesterday after the midfielder was allowed out of the final year of his deal with Gold Coast. Culina, 30, has not played for United since aggravating a knee problem at last month's Asian Cup. He will be the Jets' Australian marquee player.Anelka keeps Blues aliveCHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Carlo Ancelotti believes Chelsea's 2-0 win over FC Copenhagen proved his forwards were capable of firing the team to Champions League glory. After the misery of last weekend's FA Cup exit against Everton, Nicolas Anelka gave Blues boss Ancelotti some much-needed breathing space as his double-strike put Chelsea within touching distance of the Champions League quarter-finals.Lyon escapes with drawREAL Madrid secured a 1-1 draw with Lyon in the away leg of its Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday. Bafetimbi Gomis's well-taken volley in the 83rd minute enabled Lyon to avoid losing to Real for the first time in seven encounters, after a Karim Benzema goal had appeared destined to consign his former club to defeat. Benzema struck barely a minute after replacing Emmanuel Adebayor in the 64th minute.
