We are currently seeking two laboratory assistants to join our Newcastle laboratory team on a long term casual basis. Based at our Newcastle Grain Terminal, the laboratory plays a critical role in administering grain quality management systems for grain entering our Newcastle Grain Terminal for export. Your role in this team will be to test, process and report on quality in wheat, barley, canola and other commodities for export.
Ideally you will have ‘real time’ testing experience in an agricultural/coal or similar laboratory and are comfortable following set quality procedures. An understanding of grain and grain quality testing procedures is desirable but not essential as training is provided on the job.
To be successful in this role you will have, initiative, high attention to detail, problem solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. In addition you will have well developed verbal and written communication skills and sound PC skills particularly in the use of Word, Excel and Access.
